California Fire Pilots Association
The Redding Air Attack Base was established in the late 1960s and is located at the CDF Northern Operations Center on Airport Road in the CDF Shasta-Trinity Unit.  The base is jointly operated by the CDF and the US Forest Service.

Redding responds to an average of 200 calls per year.  Staff at the base consists of one battalion chief, two fire captains, and four firefighters. The complement of CDF aircraft located at Redding includes one OV-10 Bronco and two S-2T airtankers.

On average, the base pumps about 800,000 gallons of retardant a year.  With the base’s pumps, loading pits and equipment, Redding has a possible peak output of 290,000 gallons of retardant each day.  The base’s immediate response area spans from Red Bluff to Dunsmuir and from Hayfork to Mt. Lassen.
